B4.004 to Argentina for $28,000

Carlos & Fabiana Moralejo of the Tecka Merino Stud, Patagonia, Argentina came to Australia to source rams that would improve the quality of the wool of their 4,000 breeding ewe stud, but also get size and body weight into their stock.

Having spent a week touring various Merino studs in their search for the right bloodlines, Carlos and Fabiana identified B4.004 at the 2006 Dubbo National Sheep Show as a ram ideally suited to their aims and convinced Forbes Murdoch and Jim Coward to sell their leading long wool show ram to them for $28,000.

B4.004, described by Forbes Murdoch as:

'a plain bodied sire with great depth of body; broad straight top line; well set horns with pure muzzle; stands squarely with very good feet. Covered with long stapled, bright, dense, medium wool. Carrying quality and brightness through to his belly'

The Tecka Merino Stud, in addition to its 4,000 stud ewes, runs 90,000 commercial sheep and is one of the five largest flocks in Argentina.
